Herd Highlights from the NBA G League Showcase

Bolomboy is back Forward Joel Bolomboy had an action-packed week, last week: Signed and then waived by the Bucks on Sunday, clearing NBA waivers and signing back with the NBA G League mid-week, then dominating  at the G League Showcase for the Herd. The 2016 second-round pick of the Utah Jazz, who had spent most of the season on a Two-Way contract splitting time with the Bucks and the Herd, picked up right where he left off: putting up huge numbers. Bolomboy scored 24 points on and cleaned the glass with 18 rebounds(!) against the Texas Legends on Wednesday, then scored 27 points with eight rebounds Saturday against the Austin Spurs. Over the two games, Bolomboy averaged 25.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game, and shot 83.3% from the floor and 87.5% from the free throw line. For his outstanding play during the event, Bolomboy was named to the All-NBA G League Showcase First Team . Cliff Alexander brings the thunder! Forward Cliff Alexander played well i...

Around the Herd: Xavier Munford signs with Bucks, James Young signs with 76ers, Joel Bolomboy waived, Bucks sign Sean Kilpatrick, Chris McCullough assigned by Wizards, Herd sign Eron Harris

Munford signs Two-Way contract with Bucks Wisconsin Herd star Xavier Munford signed a Two-Way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday. Munford, a 6'3" guard who played his college ball at the University of Rhode Island, currently ranks 4th in the NBA G League in scoring (24.1 points per game) and 2nd in 3-point percentage (47.6%). "Professor X" has been a human highlight-reel for the Herd literally since Day One (he hit the game-winning three in the franchise's first game), and filled up the stat sheet on a nightly basis, he's definitely earned this opportunity. If the Bucks hadn't signed him, he surely would have garnered interest from other teams. Munford has shown a knack for scoring and making plays all season for the Herd, and I see him doing the same for the Bucks. Job well done by Milwaukee. Herd Call-Up: Highlights from James Young's brief yet terrific Wisconsin Herd career

As reported by Adam Johnson of 2 Ways & 10 Days , Wisconsin Herd star James Young will sign a Two-Way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. The 6'7" guard currently ranks 9th in the NBA G League in scoring at 22.3 points per game in 20 games played with the Herd. The sharp-shooting Young, a 1st-round pick (17th overall) of the Boston Celtics in 2014, has displayed a well-rounded offensive game and the ability to fill it up on any given night, topping 40+ points in back-to-back games in November. Here are some highlights from James Young's brief yet terrific career with the Herd: Young scores 40 against the Red Claws In his fourth appearance of the season, Young exploded for 40 points versus the Maine Red Claws. It was an incredibly efficient performance: he made 12-of-15 shots (4-of-7 from downtown) and 12-of-13 free throws. Young scores 41, hits 9 threes, versus 87ers  Just days after scoring 40 points against the Red Claws, JY followed it up wi...

Around the Herd: Topics include Gary Payton II, Sean Kilpatrick, Wisconsin Herd on Twitch, Jabari Parker, Xavier Munford, James Young, and Joel Bolomboy

Herd Player of the Week Xavier Munford  Xavier Munford continued his phenomenal play for the Wisconsin Herd last week, clinching his third-straight Herd Player of the Week honor. The 6'3" point guard topped 20 points in all three games (28-26-22) and posted a stat-sheet-filling line -- 28 points (3-of-5 3PT), eight assists, five rebounds, and three steals -- against the BayHawks on December 13. Munford currently ranks 6th in the NBA G League in scoring (24.5 points per game) and still makes more than he misses (51.5% 3PT) from downtown. He's lightning-quick with the ball and makes a handful of highlight-reel plays each game. Munford as been an offensive catalyst for the Herd all season and has truly been one of the standout performers in the NBA G League this year. Around the Herd: Xavier Munford excelling, James Young stays hot, Cliff Alexander's strong game, GPII and more

Herd Player of the Week Xavier Munford This honor goes to Xavier Munford for the second straight week. Munford continues to dazzle for the Herd, stuffing the stat sheet and delivering highlight-reel plays on a nightly basis. Munford posted a huge line -- 25 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals -- in the Herd's victory over the Blue last week. The 6'3" guard, acquired from the Greensboro Swarm via trade before the season, has displayed an uncanny ability to finish around the hoop, and his 3-point shooting has been scorching hot (52.7%) all year. Munford ranks 6th in the NBA G League in scoring average (24.3 points per game), and is a good bet to see time in the NBA sometime soon. His consistently excellent play for the Herd (and Team USA in the FIBA qualifiers) has shown me he can play at the next level. Playing in front of a sold-out crowd at Menominee Nation Arena in Oshkosh, the Wisconsin Herd christened their new home with a come-from-behind win over the Iowa Wolves, 116-109, on December 1st. The game marked the Milwaukee Bucks' new minor-league affiliate's first in Oshkosh;  The Herd had played their first three scheduled home games of the season at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, home of the Bucks, while the new arena was being completed. Here are some notes about the game:  •  The Herd's starting five for the Oshkosh Home opener (12/1/2017): Gary Payton II James Young D.J. Wilson Sterling Brown Joel Bolomboy • Both Milwaukee Bucks 2017 draft picks, 1st-round pick D.J. Wilson (Michigan) and 2nd-rounder Sterling Brown (SMU), were assigned to the Herd before the game. It was Wilson's first appearance with the Herd and Brown's third.  Due to a deep and talented roster, both rookies have played sparingly with the Bucks this season and the tea...
