Around the Herd: Xavier Munford signs with Bucks, James Young signs with 76ers, Joel Bolomboy waived, Bucks sign Sean Kilpatrick, Chris McCullough assigned by Wizards, Herd sign Eron Harris

Munford signs Two-Way contract with Bucks

Wisconsin Herd star Xavier Munford signed a Two-Way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday.

Munford, a 6'3" guard who played his college ball at the University of Rhode Island, currently ranks 4th in the NBA G League in scoring (24.1 points per game) and 2nd in 3-point percentage (47.6%).

"Professor X" has been a human highlight-reel for the Herd literally since Day One (he hit the game-winning three in the franchise's first game), and filled up the stat sheet on a nightly basis, he's definitely earned this opportunity. If the Bucks hadn't signed him, he surely would have garnered interest from other teams.

Munford has shown a knack for scoring and making plays all season for the Herd, and I see him doing the same for the Bucks. Job well done by Milwaukee.

James Young signs with 76ers

High-scoring guard James Young, who has starred this season for the Wisconsin Herd, signed a Two-Way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers last week.

The 6'7" former first-round pick out of the University of Kentucky currently ranks 9th in the NBA G League in scoring (22.3 points per game) and had several extraordinary games for the Herd this season, including back-to-back 40-point explosions in November for which he was named the NBA G League Performer of the Week.

As a player on a Two-Way contract, Young can spend up to 25 days with the 76ers in the next couple months (as the NBA G League season is ongoing), and will spend the rest of that time with the Sixers' affiliate, the Delaware 87ers.

Given his size, athleticism, and 3-point shooting ability (he went 9-of-11 from downtown in one of those 40-point games this season), I envision the 76ers will maximize the 25 days allowed and give Young every opportunity to give that team a boost.

It would not surprise me to see Young thrive for his new team and flourish in his latest opportunity in the NBA. I think he's a really good player and he played great for the Herd this season, I'll be rooting for him.

Bolomboy signed, then waived, by Bucks

Forward Joel Bolomboy, who had spent the season as one of the Bucks' Two-Way players, had his contract converted to a standard NBA deal, only to be waived by the team hours later, in a flurry of roster moved executed by Milwaukee on Sunday.

Bolomboy, a second-round pick by the Utah Jazz in 2016, had spent most of his time on the Bucks roster, appearing in six games and averaging 1.5 points and 1.7 rebounds in 6.3 minutes per game.

As explained by Jordan Treske of Behind the Buck Pass, the team is likely hoping Bolomboy clears NBA waivers and that he agrees to return to the Herd. He should draw some interest around the league, however, as he played very well (averaging a double-double) for the Herd this season.

Bucks sign Sean Kilpatrick

In their final roster move on Sunday, the Bucks signed Sean Kilpatrick, who had previously signed a Two-Way contract on December 18, to an NBA deal last week, filling the roster spot that Bolomboy had briefly occupied.

Kilpatrick, a 6'4" guard with a knack for putting the ball in the bucket, has averaged 5.5 points in 9.0 minutes per game (six games played) for Milwaukee.

Chris McCullough assigned to Herd by Wizards

Washington Wizards forward Chris McCullough was assigned to the Herd last week. The Wizards are one of the few teams currently without a minor-league affiliate (they will have one next year).

McCullough, a former first-round pick in 2015 out of Syracuse University, has appeared in three games for the Herd and has played well, averaging 15.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.0 steals per game.

Eron Harris joins the Herd

The Wisconsin Herd signed first-year guard Eron Harris this week. Harris, a 6'3" guard, played college ball most recently at Michigan State.

The versatile big man dominated the NBA G League, averaging 29.3 points and 14.0 rebounds per game in 28 games on assignment from the Milwaukee Bucks. Wood wreaked havoc on both ends of the court for the Herd, recording 25 double-doubles while topping 40 points twice and 20 rebounds three times (including a franchise-record 23 boards against the Capital City Go-Go on January 19). Around the Herd: Xavier Munford excelling, James Young stays hot, Cliff Alexander's strong game, GPII and more

Herd Player of the Week Xavier Munford This honor goes to Xavier Munford for the second straight week. Munford continues to dazzle for the Herd, stuffing the stat sheet and delivering highlight-reel plays on a nightly basis. Munford posted a huge line -- 25 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals -- in the Herd's victory over the Blue last week. The 6'3" guard, acquired from the Greensboro Swarm via trade before the season, has displayed an uncanny ability to finish around the hoop, and his 3-point shooting has been scorching hot (52.7%) all year. Munford ranks 6th in the NBA G League in scoring average (24.3 points per game), and is a good bet to see time in the NBA sometime soon. His consistently excellent play for the Herd (and Team USA in the FIBA qualifiers) has shown me he can play at the next level. Around the Herd: Checking in on Two-Way players, recent acquisitions, and more

Checking in on the Two-Way Players Both Two-Way players, Xavier Munford and Marshall Plumlee , have been splitting their time between the Bucks and the Herd recently. Xavier Munford scored his first bucket as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks on February 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. "Professor X" finished the game with three points and a steal in seven minutes. It was his second appearance in a Bucks uniform this season, first taking the court on January 20 against the Philadelphia 76ers. With the Herd, Munford continues to be one of the top players in the NBA G League this season. His eye-popping season averages -- 23.2 PPG, 52% FG, 45.2% 3PT, 4.9 REB, 5.1 AST, 1.8 STL in 25 games played -- have him firmly in the G League MVP discussion. Former Duke Blue Devil Marshall Plumlee has appeared in five games with the Bucks since being signed to a Two-Way contract on January 15. The 7-footer is averaging 2.4 points and 2.0 rebounds in 4.8 minutes per game...
