Herd Highlights from the NBA G League Showcase

Bolomboy is back

Forward Joel Bolomboy had an action-packed week, last week: Signed and then waived by the Bucks on Sunday, clearing NBA waivers and signing back with the NBA G League mid-week, then dominating at the G League Showcase for the Herd.

The 2016 second-round pick of the Utah Jazz, who had spent most of the season on a Two-Way contract splitting time with the Bucks and the Herd, picked up right where he left off: putting up huge numbers.

Bolomboy scored 24 points on and cleaned the glass with 18 rebounds(!) against the Texas Legends on Wednesday, then scored 27 points with eight rebounds Saturday against the Austin Spurs.

Over the two games, Bolomboy averaged 25.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game, and shot 83.3% from the floor and 87.5% from the free throw line. For his outstanding play during the event, Bolomboy was named to the All-NBA G League Showcase First Team.

Cliff Alexander brings the thunder!

Forward Cliff Alexander played well in both games last week, posting a double-double (16 points and 10 rebounds) versus the Legends, and putting up 16 points and six rebounds against the Spurs. He continues to be a force down low for the Herd, making tough shots with ease over good defenders.

Alexander also provided another highlight-reel slam, a huge, in-your-face jam over a Texas Legends defender that will make you jump out of your chair. Check it out:

JeQuan Lewis making plays

JeQuan Lewis had a good showing in the G League Showcase, averaging 12.0 points, 7.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game over the two games.

The lightning-fast, 6'0" point guard scored 15 points with five assists against the Legends, then posted a near-double-double (nine points, nine assists) against the Spurs.

Munford stuffs the stat sheet

Bucks Two-Way player Xavier Munford kept the scorekeepers busy last week, filling up the box scores with big numbers once again. The 6'3" guard posted 26 points (3-of-7 on threes), four rebounds, and four assists versus the Legends, then had 18 points, five assists, three rebounds, and three steals against the Spurs.

"Professor X" also ended the first half of each game at the Showcase in spectacular fashion, racing full-speed end-to-end to beat the buzzer two games in a row.

For the season, Munford currently ranks 2nd in the NBA G League in scoring (23.9 points per game) and boasts impressive shooting percentages across the board.

Around the Herd: Brandon Jennings set to debut, Herd drawing huge home crowds, Cliff Alexander's impressive efficiency, James Blackmon Jr. heating up

[Photo: Yahoo! Sports ] Brandon Jennings to make Herd debut Former Bucks first-round pick Brandon Jennings is set to make his Wisconsin Herd debut on February 21 against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Jennings, who signed with the NBA G League last week after a stint in China, was  claimed  by the Herd and is set to be in uniform, wearing number 10, on Wednesday in Oshkosh. Jennings averaged 17.0 points and 5.7 assists per game in his Bucks career after being drafted #10 overall in 2009, and was having a productive NBA career before injuries derailed him. But as a Bucks fan who remembers Jennings' explosive scoring and play-making ability from his early career, it would not surprise me to see the 28-year-old point guard get back to that level of production if he's healthy again. NBA teams around the league will be watching his Herd debut, as well, because while he plays for the Bucks minor-league affiliate, Jennings is a NBA G League free agent and able to sign with any ...
