Jennings puts on a show
The crowd was buzzing with anticipation before tip-off on Wednesday night and Brandon Jennings did not disappoint.
The former Bucks first-round pick scored 31 points on 11-of-21 shooting (5-of-12 from downtown) against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, added eight assists and displayed the scoring and play-making abilities that made him a star in Milwaukee.
Jennings was hot from the opening tip. Operating as the team's primary ball-handler for most of the game, the 6'1" point guard scored 12 points and hit three threes (one of them a four-point play) in the first quarter and had 17 points by halftime.

Despite having only been with the team a short time, Jennings looked comfortable running the offense, and showed that his top-notch ability to put the ball in the basket is as good as it's ever been. He drained threes with ease, used his quick first step to get to the hoop on several occasions, and left me thinking he could probably score 30 points every game.
His impressive return to the NBA G League surely caught the attention of NBA scouts and general managers, as well.
I do think a NBA team will sign him to a 10-day or rest-of-season contract, and probably soon. Jennings is a proven NBA player, averaging 14.3 points and 5.7 assists over his 8-year career, and at 28-years-old is still in his prime. There just aren't many guys who can make the plays he makes. He immediately vaults to the top of the list of available point guards.
Jennings next game with the Herd is scheduled for Friday night against the Long Island Nets, and he's must-see TV anytime he plays. No matter how long (or short) Jennings' career with the Herd ends up being, it got off to a flying start Wednesday night.
