Checking in on the Two-Way Players
Both Two-Way players, Xavier Munford and Marshall Plumlee, have been splitting their time between the Bucks and the Herd recently.Xavier Munford scored his first bucket as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks on February 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. "Professor X" finished the game with three points and a steal in seven minutes. It was his second appearance in a Bucks uniform this season, first taking the court on January 20 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
With the Herd, Munford continues to be one of the top players in the NBA G League this season. His eye-popping season averages -- 23.2 PPG, 52% FG, 45.2% 3PT, 4.9 REB, 5.1 AST, 1.8 STL in 25 games played -- have him firmly in the G League MVP discussion.
Former Duke Blue Devil Marshall Plumlee has appeared in five games with the Bucks since being signed to a Two-Way contract on January 15. The 7-footer is averaging 2.4 points and 2.0 rebounds in 4.8 minutes per game.
Plumlee has also played well with the Herd so far. In two appearances to date, Plumlee is averaging 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in 28.5 minutes per game.
Herd add firepower
In a concerted effort to add more offensive firepower, the Herd made some roster moves recently. On January 23, the team acquired guards Ricky Ledo and Gary Neal, and three days later, traded for guards James Blackmon Jr. and Russ Smith.
Ricky Ledo, who played his college ball at Providence, was drafted by the Bucks in 2013 (2nd-round). He has appeared in two games (both starts) for the Herd and is averaging 8.5 PPG, 6.0 REB, 2.5 AST, and 1.0 STL in 28.9 minutes per game.
James Blackmon Jr., a 6'4" guard out of Indiana University, has also appeared twice in a Herd uniform and is averaging 10 PPG (47.1% FG), 3.5 RPG & 1.0 STL in 23.5 minutes per game.
Gary Neal, an NBA veteran who played for the Bucks in 2013-14, and Russ Smith, who played his college ball at Louisville and holds the NBA G League record for most points scored in a single game (65), have not yet suited up for Wisconsin.
